Physical Education Association Awards
The PEA Awards are presented at the NCAAHPERD/PEA Convention in November! Come and join us as we honor our award winners! We are very proud of them, and we know you will be too!

Nominations and applications for PEA Awards are accepted at all times of the year, however the deadline is July 1 of the current year. Nominations or applications made after that date will be considered for the following year.

Please take a minute to think of colleagues, teachers, administrators, college students and physical education programs you feel are deserving of recognition. You can download nomination/application forms using the links provided at the bottom of this page.

  Membership and involvement in the Physical Education Association
  Significant leadership in the profession
  Service as an advocate for Physical Education in North Carolina

  PEA Amy Carroll and Sherry Little Memorial NCAAHPERD Convention Scholarships ::
 
 
The Amy Carroll and Sherry Little Memorial NCAAHPERD Convention scholarships provide two Healthful Living Professionals opportunities for professional growth by providing funds for registration fees, lodging, travel and expenses to attend the North Carolina Alliance for Athletics, Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Convention. Each scholarship includes $400 for NCAAHPERD convention attendance. The scholarships serve as a memorial for Amy Carroll and Sherry Little. Both were Physical Educators whose untimely deaths occurred while en route to the 1990 NCAAHPERD Convention.
  Criteria
   
 
Employed as a teacher in one or more areas represented within NCAAHPERD for five years or less. Must currently be a teacher in a public or private school.
 
Member of NCAAHPERD and the PEA. Membership in one other association within NCAAHPERD is also required.
 
Demonstrates an understanding of the scope and sequence of Healthful Living Curriculum by teaching age and grade level appropriate activities.
 
Serves as a positive role model epitomizing personal health and fitness, enjoyment of activities, sportsmanship, and sensitivity to the need of students.
 
Scholarship recipients must be in attendance at the NCAAHPERD Convention for which scholarship covers. Attendance at the PEA business meeting with the convention is mandatory.
  Interested Physical Education/Healthful Living Educators who meet the above criteria may apply or be nominated by a colleague for this scholarship.

PEA Grants:
Grants to experienced teachers are intended to improve physical education programs for students through the provision of funds for professional or program development.

PEA will provide a total of up to $1.000 each year in grants. Proposals up to $1.000 will be considered, but PEA reserves the right to disseminate funds to several applicants for lesser amounts. Funds may be requested for the purchase of specialized equipment or software that will allow the development of a new curriculum, to implement a new program, to pay for training, to learn a new teaching method, or to travel to a professional conference.
:: Applicant must be current members of AAHPERD, NCAAHPERD, and PEA for at least the past    three years.
:: Applicant must be in the 6th year of teaching or beyond.
:: Grant proposals should be submitted to the Vice President of PEA no later than July 1 of each    calendar year.
