Nominations for NCAAHE Awards are accepted at all times of the year, however the deadline is July 1 of the current year. Nominations made after that date will be considered for the following year.
Please take a minute to think of colleagues and teachers you feel are deserving of recognition. Any NCAAHE member may nominate an individual for an award. You can download nomination forms using the links provided at the bottom of this page.

| General Guidelines: |
:: Nominee must be a current NCAAHPERD member who has demonstrated leadership, professional commitment, personal integrity, and other associated characteristics for the award.
:: You may nominate yourself.
:: Nominees may apply for more than one award (i.e., Health Education Teacher of the Year and High School Coach of the Year).
NCAAHE will sponsor the Annual NCAAHE Teacher of the Year Awards at the Elementary, Middle and High School and University levels. Also, a Distinguished Friend of Health Education Award(s) may be given annually, as well as the Linda Harrill Rudisill Lifetime Achievement Award. The final selection will be announced at the annual meeting.
The Vice-President will serve as the Awards Committee Chairperson. An additional four members will be appointed by the Executive Committee, from any combination of the following: college health educator in a teacher training position, school health education coordinator or supervisor, health education consultant with the State Department of Public Instruction, health teacher, community health educator, NCAAHE Board member, and previous award winner(s).
The criteria for selection as the North Carolina Health Education Teacher of the Year Awards, the Distinguished Friend of NCAAHE and the Linda Harrill Rudisill Award will be determined by the Board of Directors and made available to eligible applicants.
The Health Education Teacher of the Year awardees will be nominated by the President of NCAAHE for the Southern District Health Education Professional of the Year Awards in the categories of College/University and School (K-12). Additionally, if the Distinguished Friend of School Health or recipient of the Linda Harrill Rudisill Award works in Health Education Administration, they will be nominated for the category of Health Education Administration. The deadline for these awards are generally in early fall.
Southern District convention registration, lodging, and travel for the NCAAHE Health Education Teacher(s) of the Year may be approved by the Executive Committee upon recommendation by the President, as funding allows. Reimbursement for approved registration, travel and lodging will not exceed the state limits for in/out-of-state expenses.
The Health Education of the Year recipients are expected to serve as a liaison to all teachers in those grade levels across the state.
All awardees will receive a plaque at the annual NCAAHPERD Convention. |

| NCAAHE Mini Grants: |
NCAAHE is offering teachers in North Carolina the opportunity to be awarded grant money for special projects in health education for their classroom. These funds are intended for use by teachers for health education instructional purposes. This grant can be used for technology in the health classroom as well as other creative teaching ideas. The guidelines are listed below. |

Linda Harrill Rudisill Lifetime Achievement Award :: |
| |
| |
 |
The recipient of this award will demonstrate life long achievement and dedication to health education. Honorees are master teachers, advocates, and innovators in the field of health education. Recipients will also demonstrate the passion and ability to enhance the field of health education as Linda Harrill Rudisill has done for over forty-one years. |

NCAAHE Distinguished Friend of Health Education :: |
| |
| |
 |
An individual or group that has made a significant impact in the field of health education in North Carolina and has demonstrated health education efforts that are both unique and outstanding in scope. Achievements made by the individual/group should have received widespread recognition among the health education professionals and across the state. One or more achievements cited must have occurred within the last three years.

NCAAHE Elementary Health Educator of the Year :: |

The elementary health education teacher must be an individual that spends a significant amount of time teaching health education. The teacher must be a person who serves as a positive role model of healthful living and is sensitive to the needs of students. The individual must utilize various teaching methodologies and plans innovative learning experiences; conduct a balanced and sequential curriculum, based on the developmental, physical, mental, emotional, social, and moral needs of the students. The teacher assumes responsibility for his/her professional growth and shows evidence of professional commitment through membership and involvement in local, state, and/or national health and health education organizations.

NCAAHE Middle School Health Educator of the Year :: |

The health education teacher, (for grades 6-8), is one who is certified in health education and spends at least 50% of their contact time in health instruction. The individual must be a middle school or junior high school health education teacher. The teacher must be a person who serves as a positive role model of healthful living and is sensitive to the needs of students. The individual must utilize various teaching methodologies and plans innovative learning experiences; conduct a balanced and sequential curriculum, based on the developmental, physical, mental, emotional, social, and moral needs of the students. The teacher assumes responsibility for his/her professional growth and shows evidence of professional commitment through membership and involvement in local, state, and/or national health and health education organizations.

NCAAHE High School Health Educator of the Year :: |

The health education teacher, (for grades 9-12), is one who is certified in health education and spends at least 50% of their contact time in health instruction. The individual must be a high school or junior high school health education teacher. The teacher must be a person who serves as a positive role model of healthful living and is sensitive to the needs of students. The individual must utilize various teaching methodologies and plans innovative learning experiences; conduct a balanced and sequential curriculum, based on the developmental, physical, mental, emotional, social, and moral needs of the students. The teacher assumes responsibility for his/her professional growth and shows evidence of professional commitment through membership and involvement in local, state, and/or national health and health education organizations. |

NCAAHE University/College Health Educator of the Year :: |

The University/College Health Educator is one who spends at least 50% of their contact time in health education instruction. The educator must be a person who serves as a positive role model or mentor of healthful living and is sensitive to the needs of students. The individual must utilize various teaching methodologies and plans innovative learning experiences; conduct a balanced and sequential curriculum, based on the developmental, physical, mental, emotional, social, and moral needs of the students. The educator assumes responsibility for his/her professional growth and shows evidence of professional commitment through membership and involvement in local, state, and/or national health and health education organizations. The Educator must have three or more years experience as full time faculty. |
