Attention Middle School

Coaches

The North Carolina Coaches Association and The North Carolina Association for Athletic Education have put together sessions strictly for Middle School Coaches. These sessions will be held at the Coaching Clinic in Greensboro on July 16. All you will need to attend is your 2007-2008 or 2008-2009 NCCA membership card.

Coaching Clinic – Greensboro –July 19 - July 22, 2010

Middle School Sessions - DRAFT SCHEDULE - SUBJECT TO CHANGE

9:50 – 10:45 – Injury Prevention at the Middle School Level: Most Middle Schools do not have a full time trainer. Middle School Coaches will learn what to do to prevent injuries and how to treat the athlete if an injury should occur.

10:50 – 11:40 – Coaching Education and Professional Growth: Coaching education and Professional growth will be discussed in this session. Where to go and how to make yourself a better coach through education.

11:45 – 12:35 – Dealing with Conflicts in Coaching: Many conflicts dealing with Parents, Players, Community, Administration, and Assistant Coaches can be avoided if the proper steps are taken. How to avoid these conflicts will be discussed.

2:00 – 2:50 – Liability in Coaching: When is a Coach liable and what determines liability will be discussed. Steps that a Coach should take to insure that they would not be held liable will be addressed.

3:45 – 4:45 – Roundtable Discussion /Middle School Update: Areas of Concern will be discussed along with an update from DPI.
