Typing. Manuscripts must be typed on heavy bond paper (8.5 x 11 inches) and submitted in the quadruplicate (original and three copies.) Do not send a photocopy as the original. The manuscript, including references, must be typed and double spaced. Indent the first line of every paragraph and number each page consecutively throughout the manuscript.
Title and Author. The title should convey the exact topic in no more than 15 words. The name of the author(s), the name and address of the institution at which the work was performed, and the author's present professional addresses should appear on the title page of the original only. The copies should contain only the title of the manuscript.
Length. Manuscripts should not exceed 4,500 to 5,000 words in length, or about 10 to 12 pages of double spaced typing.
Form and style. The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (3rd ed.) is the accepted source for form and style.
Tabula Materials. Tables should be kept to a minimum consistent with reasonably adequate presentation. Do not duplicate data by giving them in both tables and graphs or in tables and text. It is not necessary to tabulate all raw data or nonsignificant data.
Graphs or drawings. Use black India ink on white heavy illustration board (8.5 x 11 inches). Glossy photographs or original artwork are acceptable. Drawings on cross-section paper are not recommended and are only acceptable if grid lines are blue (which does not photograph). Lettering on graph must be neat, regular, well-spaced, and large enough to reproduce well when the drawing is reduced. It should not extend beyond the borders of the actual figure.
Photographs. Photographs should be clear black and white prints with good contrast, on glossy paper. Care should be taken to see that they cannot be bent or folded in handling and mailing. Identify all photographs by taping a typed label on the back, giving the author's name, institution, figure number, and caption. |
