2:00 PM Sep 14 - 11:45 AM Sep 15, 2012
The 8th Annual Student Leadership Retreat will be held in Efland, NC at Chestnut Ridge Camp and Retreat Center on Friday and Saturday, September 14‐15. Each college or university is invited to select two students majoring in health, physical education, dance, exercise science, sport management, athletic training, or recreation (one male and one female if possible) to attend the event. Two students from each college/university attend at NO COST! (Additional students may attend the retreat for $75.00 each.) Lodging, Friday's dinner, and Saturday's breakfast are provided by NCAAHPERD.
The fun starts Friday with check in from 2 pm to 2:30 pm at the Morris Center. After a short meeting, it’s on to the low ropes challenge course until 6 pm. After dinner, attendees will gather back at the Morris Center for a short program. At 9 pm, students can gather around a campfire and snack on S’Mores. Afterwards students are on their own to bed‐down for an evening in retreat’s cabins. Saturday begins with breakfast at 8 am, followed at 9 am by a program in the Morris Center. The highlight of the morning’s activities is the team building and initiative games session from 10 to 11 am. A brief closing session in the Morris Center ends the retreat at noon.
During the retreat, students will learn about NCAAHPERD, meet some of the Board of Directors, and start their professional networking by getting to know one another during the activity sessions. This is a great opportunity for college students.
Once students successfully complete the leadership retreat by attending and participating in all meetings, NCAAHPERD provides them with a free membership.
Each student selected by a college or university will need to complete and submit the registration form below. Once the student's selection has been confirmed by the student's college advisor, we will send the student a Retreat Packet and Agenda. The Retreat Packet will contain directions to Chestnut Ridge, a map of Chestnut Ridge, a Challenge Course Participant Information Letter, a Challenge Course Release Form, an Agenda and a list of the items students will want to bring to the retreat.
The conference will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday (9/14/12) and conclude Saturday at noon. If possible, travel arrangements should allow for arrival no later than 2:00 pm Friday and departure not before noon Saturday.
We need the following information for all attendees. Remember, we are requesting each school send two students. Additional students may attend with a cost of $75.00 per additional student.
