The 67th Annual NCAAHPERD-SM Convention will be held at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on October 29-31, 2015. The theme for this year's convention is "No One Left Out." From the Mountains to the Piedmont and the Coastal Plains too…by working together we are simply the best! With one of the largest memberships in the country, North Carolina AAHPERD-SM provides a unique opportunity to renew and refresh your teaching methods and professional outlook.2015conventionlogofinal3corr.jpg

The Benton Convention Center is located in (the) heart of Winston-Salem. A colorful palette that blends together an eclectic mix of people, places, and things. The Benton Convention Center (is) adjoined to the Embassy Suites and the Marriott via a tunnel. Just around the corner is the avant-garde arts district with shops, galleries, restaurants, and bars each with their own personality. Go ahead and book your room before it’s too late. The cut-off date is September 30th for the NCAAHPERD-SM discounted rate. When you book under NCAAHPERD-SM you will receive a discounted rate, plus complimentary breakfast and two evening beverages at both theMarriott and Embassy, but you need to register soon! Remember, the cut-off for these deals is September 30th.

We have two Keynote speakers this year – one on Thursday and one on Friday.  On Thursday Dr. Dan Gould from Michigan State University will be our Bill Russell Memorial Keynote speaker, and on Friday Dr. Colby Jubenville from Red Herring Innovation and Design will kick off our Friday program. This year's convention moves back to our original format with sessions on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Thursday afternoon we will hold our annual Awards Ceremony (4:45-6:00pm), followed by our third Annual Casino Night and Dance (7:30-10:30pm). 

We are looking for volunteers for convention, please click here if you are interested in helping out. 

You can still submit a proposal for a Poster Presentation. All submissions for Poster Presentations are due by October 5, 2015. Click here to submit.  

Continuing Education Information:

One day – Thursday or Friday – 0.6 credit can be turned in at 4:30 at the registration table in the lobby.

Two days – Thursday and Friday combined – 1.2 credits can be turned in at 4:30 at the registration table in the lobby.

Two and half days – Thursday, Friday and ½ Saturday – 1.5 credits can be turned in 11:30 at the registration table in the lobby.

Literacy- .5 credits 

Technology- .5 credits

Literacy and Technology credits are part of the total for the day/days. 

PAL Training – 1.0 credits will be email upon completion of Training.

NC Student Majors' Assocaition Social 

Do you want to network with other student members of NCAAHPERD-SM? Do you like football?

Well, you can have it all this year, at the SMA Social. The SMA board would like to invite all student members of NCAAHPERD-SM, attending the convention, out to BB&T stadium for a tailgate prior to the Wake Forest vs. Louisville matchup at 7pm. For just $20 dollars you can purchase your tailgating pass and a ticket (50 yard line) to the game! The tailgate will begin around 5:30pm and transportation to the stadium will be provided with purchase of tailgating pass. At the tailgate you will find plenty of food, drinks, and games for everyone. This is an incredible opportunity to network with young professionals from other programs and experience Wake Forest football for an amazing price. Physical Activity Leader (PAL) Training 

Led by Pam Powers, National Recruitment Manager, Let’s Move! Active Schools (With is training, you will receive 1 CEU)

  • Do students in your school and/or school district have the opportunity for physical activity above and beyond physical education class?
  • Does your school have a Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program that helps students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to be physically active for a lifetime?

Earn 1.2 CEU’s by attending Thursday and Friday sessions AND 1 CEU for attending the PAL Training on Saturday!
