Criteria for Evaluation of Honor Award Nominations

Nominate a Candidate for the Honor Award |

| Qualifications of Candidates for the Honor Award: |
:: Candidates shall have served professionally in school, college, or community programs for a period of at least 10 years prior to nomination.
:: Candidates shall be members of this Alliance. Former members who have retired from professional work may be exempt from this requirement.
:: Candidates shall be persons of high moral character and personal integrity who by their leadership and industry have made outstanding and note-worthy contributions to the advancement of health education, physical education, recreation, dance intramurals, and/or athletics in the state.
:: Candidates shall be at least 40 years of age and in possession of at least a Master's degree or be a National Board Certified Teacher. These qualifications may be waived by a unanimous vote of the committee.
:: To indicate leadership or meritorious contributions, the candidates should present evidence of successful experiences in any five or more categories of service from the following three Divisions: |

President of the NCAAHPERD |
| |
 |
Officer of an Association in NCAAHPERD |

| |
Division II - Committee Work :: |

Chairperson of a committee of NCAAHPERD |

Committee work over a period of three years or more with local, state, district, or national organizations in health education, physical education, recreation, dance, intramurals, and/or athletics |

Division III - Speeches, Writing, and Research :: |
| |
| |
 |
Significant addresses before educational groups, conventions, assemblies, and such other meetings held in the interest and promotion of health education, physical education, recreation, dance, intramurals, and/or athletics |

 |
Systematic research which has helped to advance the profession |
| |
 |
Author or co-author of one or more books on health education, physical education, recreation, dance, intramurals, and/or athletics |
| |
 |
Author of articles accepted and published by magazines of nation scope or brought out in monograph form |
| |
 |
Articles for handbooks, newspapers, magazines, not covered above |
| |
 |
An outstanding, original contribution to the profession which has affected its philosophy or practices, not included above |

| Procedures for the Honor Award: |

Procedure for nomination :: |

 |
Any NCAAHPERD member may submit names of candidates by sending these to the Awards Committee on or before July 1. |
| |
 |
Committee members shall submit to the chairperson by July 6 any nominations that have been submitted to them. |
|
|
| |
Procedure for obtaining biographical data :: |
| |
| |
 |
The chairperson shall send the official biographical data form adopted by the committee to each candidate by July 15. |
| |
 |
The candidate shall provide the requested information, in the format indicated on the data form provided by the committee chairperson. No more than six pages (typed on one side of each page) will be considered by the committee. |

 |
The candidate shall return the biographical data form to the committee chairperson by June 15 in order to be considered for the current year. |
